ADRO: How It Benefits Digital Hearing Aid Users

ADRO, the world's first wide dynamic range optimizer, offers a great improvement in how a digital hearing aid can benefit its user. Using the power of DSP, this new digital hearing aid technology carries out sophisticated analysis and implements fuzzy logic rules to continuously optimize the output of the hearing aid. This provides comfort as well as improved speech perception in all listening environments.

Operating in 32 channels, a digital hearing aid using ADRO provides natural amplified sound by using statistical analysis to compare and adjust the output of each channel of the hearing aid to comfortable and audible levels chosen by the user. This new digital hearing aid technology eliminates the need to adjust compression thresholds, ratios, or attach and release times, and gain levels change only when appropriate.

Scientific studies have shown that digital hearing aid users prefer ADRO hearing aid technology over compression 74 percent of the time, and that sound quality and speech perception are enhanced.

Learn More about This New Digital Hearing Aid Technology

The FreedomAD from America Hears combines top-of-the-line digital hearing aid technology with state-of-the-art features, including:

Multiple-Channel Noise Suppression - Low level noise suppression with high speech intelligibility

The Multiple-Channel Noise Suppression (MCNS) module enhances the capabilities of a digital hearing aid by reducing the audibility of microphone noise, input circuit noise, and low-level environmental noise. This digital hearing aid technology can also reduce the incidence of feedback in quiet environments.

Adaptive Feedback Canceller (FBC) - Feedback elimination designed for the future

The Feedback Canceller (FBC) module provides up to 22 dB of added stable gain before oscillation of the digital hearing aid output occurs. The FBC is especially suitable for open fittings and earmolds with large vents, and it can be used with high levels of application. The FBC is a high-performance, efficient module based on patented intellectual property developed from the House Ear Institute (HEI). The characteristics that distinguish the HEI algorithm from other feedback cancellation and feedback management algorithms are the high level of added stable gain and the high quality of the output, including excellent performance in music. This digital hearing aid technology dynamically models the acoustic feedback path and actively cancels feedback from the microphone input without reducing gain of the hearing aid.

Adaptive Directional Microphone - Automatically adaptive, efficient high performance, even in background noise

The Adaptive Directional Microphone (ADM) module is a superior directional microphone system used with the FreedomAD digital hearing aid line. With sophisticated monitoring of multiple microphones, the module is able to adapt into and out of an omnidirectional mode, all the while optimizing the polar pattern for the listener. Extremely power efficient, the ADM has a flat frequency response, meaning that the same fitting can be used as for an omnidirectional fitting. With a configurable switching activation level, smooth adaptation with no artifacts and no adaptive delays, the ADM is simply essential digital hearing aid technology for today's products.

Ultra Low Digital Delay - Industry-leading technology

FreedomAD employs patented, state-of-the-art, Ultra Low Delay (ULD) digital sound processing. When sounds are amplified by a digital hearing aid, a time delay is introduced because it takes time for the hearing aid to process the sound and amplify it to an appropriate level. This can result in the user hearing an echo. ADRO with ULD is superior digital hearing aid technology because it reduces the amplified delay to less than 1 millisecond, resulting in improved sound quality, elimination of the echo sensation, and reduced chance of feedback. It is the perfect solution for people who would benefit from open ear fittings.
